MapGeneration Project

The idea of the MapGeneration Project is to collect GPS data from all over the world and automatically create a digital road map, that is freely available for everybody.

For a quick introduction and tutorial have a look at the Introduction, more detailed plans for release 1.0 are on the Feature Plan page.

If you want to help developing and/or have good ideas for this project, feel free to write to the User Forum or to edit the Ideas page. The Developer Wiki also contains a ToDos list.

There are lots of small bugfixes and improvements in this release, so that we decided to skip version 0.2.1 and call it version 0.3.0 instead. Most notably are the compatibility improvements. This release finally works with commoncpp2 1.0.13 and wxWidgets with unicode support. Read on for the full changelog or just download the new version.

Our paper is accepted for the ITSC 2005
By: scholli  on: Tue 24 of May, 2005 [11:24 UTC]  (1930 reads)
General
Yesterday we got the confirmation that our paper is accepted for the ITSC 2005.
Unfortunately we have to rewrite several parts: as mentioned in the article dated from 2005-04-14 we made large changes to the core algorithm. In the next days we will include these changes into our paper because we want to present an up-to-date version of the MapGenerator. This will delay further developments.

General
In February we began to re-write the core algorithm. The new algorithm is nearly completed and we hope that we can start with fine-tuning in a few days. If you want to take a look at it get the current revision from the subversion repository.

In the next days we will provide new screenshots and perhaps update the developper wiki with some details of the program.
